Speaking of Russell Brand...

His international pop star ex-wife Katy Perry is having a devil of time selling Park Hill, the 3-ish acre West Hollywood compound she and he bought in June 2011, at the tail end of their marriage, for $6.5 million. The historic estate, perched above the mouth of Laurel Canyon, was first listed on the open market in April (2013) with an asking price of $6,925,000. The price tag was slashed by $430,000 in June and, this week, after two potential sales have fallen through, by another $507,000 bringing the newest and lowest asking price down to $5,988,000, $512,000 less than she paid. Several months ago, Miz Perry spent $11 million on a multi-residence compound in the Hollywood Hills. (source: Trulia Luxe Living and Zillow; listing photo: Teles Properties)

Retired professional quarterback turned Fox Sports commentator Troy Aikman—he has three Super Bowl wins with the Dallas Cowboys—splashed out $4.3 million on a second home in Dallas that overlooks Turtle Creek Lake. Just a few months ago he paid $4.25 million for a 10,000 square foot house nearby. (source: TMZ and Candy's Dirt; listing photo: via TMZ)

Just months after Architectural Digest featured Nine West founder Vince Camuto's Villa Maria—his newly redone 22,000 square foot Victorian mansion on 7.6 manicured acres in the Hamptons—it's back up for sale with a fat asking price of $49,500,000. Park Hill is as boring as Ms. Perry's music. Villa Maria is the definition of trophy property.
Park Hill does look boring - as does the one that Perry hosted a BBQ at (same one? Not sure), the photos of which were in a lot of the tabloids a few months back ... it was just a sea of concrete - not even very interesting concrete at that ... who on earth has a BBQ area that is just all-concrete ... yuck.
The Hamptons looks so idyllic - I hope to visit one day :) Brand's new house looks gorgeous (from what little I can see from the photos) - very chapel-like ...
LGB/LB, if you have one mean word to say about Villa Maria I'll hunt you down with water balloons.
K.P. ... Love is blind + no pre-nup = this place? Bummer. Mama's pics still sting. Overpriced to begin with? How should I know, but does makes me wonder.
Upstanding guy Mitt Romney can't buy happiness.
Hmmm...
Brand -- he's shown surprisingly good taste in real estate; in comedy? Not so much.
Perry -- Perhaps it's time to raze the suicide house...
Romney -- and they say he didn't understand the working man (each of whom could easily own such a Lindal Home gone so terribly wrong).
Aikman -- a mirrored living room ceiling?!? No; just no.
Camuto -- as a former novitiate, Mom was a frequent visitor, and I dropped her off there more than once. The original Villa Maria was superb (if a bit down at the heels), and the remodel basically respects that; I just wish it was a little further back from the busy road out front.
Incoming!
@LGB - Suicide house?? I can't find any deets besides the fact that it was C.F. Dewitt's wife. Do tell....
I think Mrs. Dewitt was quite enough...
One more Mitt thing to post for posterity ... not a damned thing to do with real estate, I know.
